The opening round of the 2025 SEBECO Championship took place at the historic Sebring International Raceway. The notoriously bumpy track proved to be challenging as the opening day of practice saw minimal run time which would help defending series Champion, #99 Gobel Newsome, secure pole position come Saturday morning.
At the drop of the green, rookie driver, #59 Seth Henry, didn’t let his inexperience in a downforce machine get the best of him. Instead, he relied on his experience as the defending Ginetta Challenge champion and overtook Gobel for the lead before they arrived at the Mission Foods Turn 7 hairpin.
However, both drivers found themselves trailing behind the lightning-fast Jeff Williams, piloting the #427 Radical SR3 in the PS3 class, who surged ahead with a blistering start. Despite Seth’s valiant efforts to close the gap, he ultimately finished second in class but claimed victory in the SEBECO Championship.
Race 2 delivered even more intense on-track battles. Mirroring the first race, Jeff Williams’ Radical took an early lead in the PS3 class. Yet, as the race progressed, Seth found his rhythm and executed a decisive overtake with just two laps remaining. Holding his ground with unwavering determination, Seth clinched the PS3 class win and celebrated his second triumph of the weekend in the SEBECO Championship.
In addition to taking the win in PS3 on Sunday, Seth and his team, Kaizen Autosport, had even more to celebrate. He and co-pilot Wyatt Foster took the win in the IGT Enduro in their Lamborghini Super Trofeo earlier that morning. And to cap it all off, Seth walked away with a new track record for the SEBECO Championship series.
Our next series race is just a few weeks away at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Several series regulars look to return and see if they can take the top step of the podium. Come out and see us!
